Dentofacial Orthopedics

Our doctor specializes in “Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics,” a distinct field within dentistry. While orthodontics focuses on tooth movement, dentofacial orthopedics guides facial growth, particularly during childhood. This specialization requires additional schooling beyond dental school, culminating in a two- to three-year residency program.

Dentofacial orthopedics involves using various appliances to manage facial abnormalities, often preceding or complementing traditional braces. By integrating both orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic treatments, our doctor can diagnose and address misalignments in both teeth and jaw, ensuring comprehensive care for optimal facial structure and function.
