Treatments

All Ages

Children

Our practice caters to patients of all ages, recognizing that each individual has unique needs and deserves personalized attention and care. For children, early orthodontic treatment around age seven can correct jaw issues, create space for crowded teeth, and address habits like thumb-sucking or speech difficulties. Signs such as misplaced teeth or difficulty chewing may indicate the need for an orthodontic evaluation.

Teens

Teens can confidently embrace braces, as today’s options offer style, comfort, and effectiveness. From traditional metal to ceramic braces, treatment is tailored to suit preferences and lifestyles. While treatment duration varies, maintaining braces requires avoiding certain foods to prevent damage and ensure optimal results.

Adults

Adults are increasingly seeking orthodontic treatment to improve oral health and appearance. Options like clear braces and aligners make orthodontic care discreet and convenient. A straight smile enhances aesthetics and contributes to lifelong dental health, reflecting the importance of self-care at any age.

Two-Phase Treatment

Phase One

Two-phase orthodontic treatment integrates tooth alignment with facial changes, aiming for a healthy, functional, and lasting result for your child’s smile. By addressing jaw development early, Phase One treatment helps accommodate permanent teeth and improve jaw alignment, potentially avoiding more invasive procedures later in life. Orthodontic records aid in planning the personalized treatment approach during the initial consultation.

Phase Two

During the resting period between phases, permanent teeth are left to erupt freely, with occasional monitoring appointments to ensure proper progression. Phase Two focuses on fine-tuning tooth alignment for harmony with facial features, typically involving full braces for about 18-24 months. Retainers are then used to preserve the achieved results, emphasizing the importance of early planning for long-term dental health.

Braces

Damon Smile

Damon Smile takes a revolutionary approach to orthodontic treatment, employing passive self-ligating braces that eliminate the need for elastic or metal ties. This system not only accelerates treatment but also minimizes discomfort and reduces the number of required appointments.

Insignia

Utilizing an interactive software system, Insignia tailors your treatment plan to your unique dental needs using virtual 3D imaging. Your custom archwires are precisely designed to guide your teeth into optimal alignment, reducing treatment time and delivering the smile you desire faster than ever before.

Clear / Ceramic

Ceramic braces offer a discreet orthodontic option, crafted from transparent materials for minimal visibility. Ideal for older teens and adults seeking aesthetic concerns, ceramic braces require meticulous oral hygiene due to their composition. Typically used on upper front teeth, they provide a subtle alternative for achieving straighter teeth with less noticeable braces.

Clear Aligners

Invisalign®

Invisalign treatment involves a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners designed to enhance your smile discreetly and comfortably. Crafted with 3D computer imaging technology, these aligners are proven effective in achieving desired results. Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing you to enjoy your favorite foods and maintain oral hygiene with ease.

Spark®

Spark aligners are a nearly invisible option for straightening teeth, consisting of removable acrylic trays. Comfortable and discreet, they allow for easy eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing without the hassle of traditional braces. With no metal components, Spark aligners provide a comfortable and convenient solution for achieving a beautiful smile.

Dentofacial Orthopedics

Dr. Bleau specializes in “Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics,” a distinct field within dentistry. While orthodontics focuses on tooth movement, dentofacial orthopedics guides facial growth, particularly during childhood. This specialization requires additional schooling beyond dental school, culminating in a two- to three-year residency program.

Dentofacial orthopedics involves using various appliances to manage facial abnormalities, often preceding or complementing traditional braces. By integrating both orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic treatments, our doctor can diagnose and address misalignments in both teeth and jaw, ensuring comprehensive care for optimal facial structure and function.

Retainers

Retainers are essential for maintaining corrected tooth positions after orthodontic treatment and are available in both removable and fixed forms. Always wear your retainer unless instructed otherwise, and remove it when eating. Clean your retainer thoroughly once a day using a toothbrush and toothpaste with warm water, not hot. Orthodontic appliance cleaners can be used as a supplement, but not a replacement, for brushing.

Initially, speaking might be challenging, so practice speaking, reading, or singing out loud to get accustomed to it. Retainers are breakable, so handle them with care. If your retainer gets lost or broken, contact us immediately. Remember that replacements are costly, but proper care can make them last for years.

Hawley Retainer

The Hawley retainer is a removable device typically made of metal and acrylic. It is used to maintain teeth in their new positions after braces. Its customizable design allows for comfortable, effective retention of your smile.

Herbst® Appliance

The Herbst appliance addresses overbites by encouraging forward movement of the lower jaw and backward adjustment of the upper molars. It is typically worn for about 12-15 months and is particularly beneficial for growing children.

Forsus

The Forsus Fatigue Resistant Device offers an alternative to headgear, stimulating growth in adolescents to correct overbites, enhance teeth alignment, and potentially avoid the need for jaw surgery.

MARA

The Mandibular Anterior Repositioning Appliance (MARA) aids in correcting severe overbites by encouraging lower jaw growth, often minimizing the need for extractions or jaw surgery, and anchored to molars with upper attachments for adjustment flexibility.

PowerScope

Appliance used in Cl II correction aids in restraining maxillary growth, enhancing mandibular growth, distal maxillary movement, and mesial positioning of the mandibular arch.
